The lymphatic system is a one way drainage system which functions is to transport and defence the body. It clears proteins, cellular debris, pathogens, fatty acids and other particular waste matter from tissues. Unlike blood circulation which has a two way transport system that is pumped by the heart, our lymph system’s rely on movement, breathing and gravity to transport it one direction only.
Lymph is the fluid from the interstitial spaces which enter the lymphatic system through a network of superficial initial lymphatic capillaries.
